North Wales. Pen Y Pass Youth Hostel terrace, which was used as a check and feeding point during the Welsh 3000 Peaks Race. The day had started promising but the sky filled with threatening clouds and a chilling wind arose. The timekeepers soon shifted their position to escape the wind. A point I could not help noticing was the energy and cheerfulness with which the two young feeding assistances worked throughout the day, every competitor that went through the station was offered iced water, fruit juice and had their bottles filled if required. The event was divided into different classes, Fell runners, Mountaineers, Services. The event started in Aber and it covered the summits of Carnedd Llewelyn, Carnedd Dafydd, Garnedd Ugain (Crib y Ddysgyl) and finished at the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon).
