a new version of the Wisteria flower for my "One of a kind" flower images project.

facts about wisterias:

#1: Wisteria is part of the legume family

The legume family is also home to peas, beans, lentils and clover!

#2: English botanist Thomas Nuttall (1786-1859) named the Wisteria

Along with at least 92 others. He was born in Long Preston, Yorkshire, but travelled to the Great Lakes of North America in 1810, with fellow botanist John Bradbury.

#3: The Wisteria is named in memory of Dr. Caspar Wistar

Dr. Caspar Wistar (1761-1818) was an American physician and anatomist. He was an early promoter of vaccinations, cousin of American Revolutionary diarist Sally Wister and also a friend of Thomas Jefferson.

#4: Two of the most popular Wisteria can be identified by how they climb!

If it twines its stems clockwise (seen from above), it’s probably a Japanese Wisteria (W. floribunda). The Chinese Wisteria (W. sinensis) however, twines counterclockwise – and this is the most common one in the UK.

#5: There are ten species of Wisteria

And they are native to China, Korea, Japan, and the Eastern United States. Chinese Wisteria was the most common species in the UK for many years, until other colours and species were gradually introduced.

While visiting my daughter in Texas one of my Grandsons had a field trip to the Crocodile Encounter. My daughter and I decided to go and see what it was all about and try to catch a glimpse of my Grandson. We all had a fun time and the weather was fantastic. I even held a snake and a baby alligator! They had lots more animals then just Gators and Crocs!

Happy Fence Friday and hope you too have a laid back weekend!

M-NTWSTC does all of 55 MPH, track speed, past milepost 62 on BNSF's Staples Subdivision in high throttle with just over ten miles left to the termination point of St. Cloud, MN. This extra train did not waste anytime in the 70 miles from Minneapolis to St. Cloud, completing the trip in not much over an hour.

vDB 55 is a reflection nebula in the Orion constellation, around 1050 light years from earth.

This is your typical reflection nebula where dust clouds are being lit up and shaped by nearby massive stars. In this case, it makes for some interesting pattern throughout the entire structure.

NGC 55 is a barred spiral galaxy in the constellation Sculptor. Together with NGC 300, it is one of the closest galaxies to Earth (around 6.5 million light years away)

This spiral galaxy, which has only one spiral arm, is seen edge-on and gives it a rather irregular appearance. It is nevertheless quite rich in matter giving birth to many young stars.

It was discovered on 7 July 1826 by Scottish astronomer James Dunlop.
