Bohemian Waxwing (Bombycilla garrulus)

There are only three types of Waxwing species, Cedar, Bohemian and Japanese.
True to their Bohemian name this species is a true vagabound. They have no set breeding territory and are sub artic breeders that travel large distances in search of food. In winter, Bohemian Waxwings often travel south in search of berries and fruit. They have an uncanny ability to find fruit nearly everywhere they go.
In summer (breeding season) their diet consists of mainly insects along with some fruit, however in winter their diet is almost entirely fruit..
Due to thier nomatic life style this species does not have true breeding territories and has no developed song (which songbirds birds often use to defend their territory). Instead they use a series of high-pitched calls to communicate.
