I know Christmas has come and gone, but I couldn't walk by two of my favourite things, fences and bokeh, and not snap a few shots!
Happy first Fence Friday for 2014!

With a population of 2.5 million, Osaka is Japan's third largest and second most important city. It has been the economic powerhouse of the Kansai region for many centuries.
Although a regular sight in our countryside the Common Blue's numbers in some areas have fallen dramatically. It is the most widely distributed of the blues and is found from sea level to mountainsides throughout Britain and Ireland, except for Shetland.
It is double-brooded here in the south, flying in May and June, and again in August and September. In long, hot summers, however, an extra brood may appear, lasting into late October.
15th June 2017 - On May 19 the French Groupe de Chasse 1/2 Cigognes, based at Dijon-Longvic AFB (BA102), unveiled a special painted Mirage 2000 to celebrate the centenary of the disappearance of Georges Guynemer, one of the most glorious aces of French hunting.
Georges Guynemer was a top fighter ace for France with 54 victories during World War I, and a French national hero at the time of his death. Guynemer failed to return from a combat mission on 11 September 1917. He took off aboard of his Spad XIII with rookie pilot Jean Bozon-Verduraz to patrol the Langemark area. During the mission, near Poelkapelle, Guynemer sighted a lone Rumpler, a German observation plane, and dove toward it. Bozon-Verduraz saw several Fokkers above him, and by the time he had shaken them off, his leader was nowhere in sight, so he returned alone. Guynemer never came back.
Captain Georges Guynemer was confirmed missing in action by his squadron commander Major Brocard; it was officially announced in Paris by the French War Department on 25 September 1917.

Time seems to be moving at an exponential pace. I'm going to guess that this was one of my many encounters with BA5. A very reliable middle of the day turn back south out of Burnham Yard for Blue Island. I hid in the weeds on the north side of Calumet Park for this view.
The B&O mainline east from Barr Yard is running across the center of the frame from right to left. The wiggly wiggles on the left side is the Harbor's connection to what remains of the PRR's SC&S. And of course the Harbor is on the....well, maybe it isn't so obvious. Calumet Park also contained the crossing of the Michigan Central's mainline with the B&O and PRR. The present Harbor Belt main east from Calumet Park is actually the Michigan Central main from what Ive put together. The ancient Harbor predecessor Chicago, Hammond and Western would have sliced across the MC at Calumet Park way back in the day as they were actually destined for Whiting, via Calumet City Yard, State Line and Burnham Yard.
At least I think I have that right...
