Day 2
Terraced inner-city summer living at it’s finest. Windows thrust open, kids slathered with sun cream and chucked out onto the front street to play out until it gets dark, adults occasionally venturing to the doorstep to smoke or gossip with neighbours.
My street is quite a nice place to be in the sun, I have to admit.
"Have you seen a young man walking along this block every evening just after sunset? Scruffy hair and a nose that looks as if someone had gotten ahold of it and yanked very hard. Not a pleasant looking fellow."
"No, I haven't noticed such a fellow right here in his very spot," replied the tree. "Not of that description and certainly not every day just after sunset."
The man in the overcoat smacked his gums and rolled his eyes. "I don't mean this exact spot. I mean in the general vicinity of the neighbourhood."
"Well, now that I think about it. No. You see, I'm a tree. I don't get around much."
