The IS-2 ("Iosef Stalin"), with its 122mm gun, was an unpleasant surprise for the Germans.
Produced from October, 1943, through June, 1945, with a total of 3,483 units built.
The IS-2 and IS-1 heavy tanks were designed with thick armour to counter the German 88 mm guns,
and carried a main gun that was capable of defeating the German Tiger and Panther tanks. It was
mainly a breakthrough tank, firing a heavy high-explosive shell that was useful against entrenchments
and bunkers. The IS-2 was put into service in April 1944, and was used as a spearhead in the
Battle of Berlin by the Red Army in the final stage of the war.

Here we go, my first Soviet tanko of WW2, but I sure hope it won't be the last ;)
Started this project a long time ago, but put it to hold (because I could not find a good solution for the front) until I saw Stijn's solution on his WIP photo
Than the building started and 2 weeks later, I had a finished Josef stalin 2 tank in front of me.
I hope that you like it!
Every favorite and comment means a lot to me and i highly appreciate it!
- “Now…urg…you remember how I taught you, right?”
Cristy - “Um…I-I think.”
- “Okay, I’ll walk you through it. Arg…first, take away some of this pain for me. Get that morphine syringe."
Cristy - “Uh, okay.”
- “Alright, stick it right here in my arm and push on the plunger.”
Cristy - “Uh…um, o-okay.”
- “Yeah, right there…..aaahhh, that’s the stuff…”
Cristy - “W-what happened to you?”
- “Just concentrate on me right now, okay honey? Urg, next…grab that cloth and clean up the wound. Get a little bit of rubbing alcohol on it to help sterilize.”
Cristy - “Okay…”
- “...There are other people out there. I mean…I assumed there would be, but…they looked like they were some kind of military. Tsss! Ah!”
Cristy - “Sorry.”
- “It’s okay, that’s how you know it’s working. Keep putting pressure on it. But these soldiers, I-I thought they were going to help but they just…”
Cristy - “They what?”
- “They…they turned their guns on me and…”
Cristy - “D-dad…?”
- “Look honey, they…they were-“
Cristy - “They were going to kill you…”
- “Y-yes…I don’t know why. They didn't ask me anything, they didn't hesitate, they just raised their guns and…agh, I was lucky I only got hit with the little machine gun one of them had, but god that was too close for me...Okay, that’s good honey, now here comes the difficult part. Grab those tweezers.”
Cristy - “O-okay…So, w-what did you do...?”
- “I…Look, they-…they were bad men, honey. I did what I had to do to save myself. It was either them or me. I was able to grab that shotgun from one of them, and I-“
Cristy - “Y-you killed them…”
- “*sigh*…Yes, honey. I killed them. But, they were bad men, do you understand? They showed no care, no sense of right and wrong. It was like it was instinct to them…and, the masks they wore….L-look, honey, I know you know that killing another person is wrong…but…with some people…there's no other option. Do you understand what I’m trying to say?”
Cristy - “...y-yes.”
- “I did what I had to do. Now, take those tweezers, and I want you to look in the bullet hole for bits of metal. We need to get those out; quick, before the morphine wears off.”
Cristy - “I-in your arm…wi-with the blood.”
- “Yes there’s going to be blood. I know you don’t want to see it, I know it’s horrible to look at, but you have to be strong right now, okay?”
Cristy - “Okay……h-here’s one.”
- “Okay, now just pull it out with the tweezers and-SSSSS AGH!!!”

ladder of success
This is day 2 of my 365 days effort. I find this quite a challenging thing to do, yesterdays was a black and white too - gonna have to have a bit of a think about tomorrows photograph.
It’s interesting the accidental “extras” we find after uploading our photography. For this image I was focusing on the cyclist. However, I unintentionally caught the motorist talking on her cell while driving, too, which is a no-no in the state of Oregon. Is that a Washington license plate I see? =)

Looking both ways down Piccadilly - never seen it this quiet before (but there was a reason)
This is the direction we were walking, towards Piccadilly Circus.
Taken about 2 hours after the previous photo.
May your weekend be filled with light and the aroma of joy...
The libraries also contain documents describing trade-related activity from previous ages, when tens of thousands of camels would enter or leave the town daily. These days, Chinguetti is quiet and desolate.
Please note the pens - they are placed in bullet shells. "Nothing is wasted in the desert".

came today, I bought it only on Friday! This Moskva-2 has a 1950 serial number, and though it's had its knocks seems to be working just fine. The nice man I bought it from had made platinum-palladium contract prints with it, which I think is super cool.
The Moskva-2 is a Russian 'copy' of the Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta C. The Industar-23 11cm f/4.5 lens is threaded for Series V, which is handy. It also has the Red Cyrillic P.
I have film in it already, of course. The range finder is very contrasty in this, and the viewfinder is clear. The camera has double exposure prevention; the prism flips 180 degrees to get it out of the way when closing the door.
