Colas’ 70815 crosses the Vale of Glamorgan Railway’s Porthkerry Viaduct while working an empty coal train from Aberthaw back to Avonmouth Docks.

Opened in 1897, the Vale of Glamorgan route was created to allow coal traffic from west Wales to be exported through Barry Docks. Within 10 years Barry Docks was the busiest coal port in the world, being fed primarily via the Vale of Glamorgan route.

The opening of the Aberthaw power stations to the west of Porthkerry in 1963 started a high volume flow of coal along the line in the opposite direction.

Coal exports from Barry ceased in 1976, and Aberthaw power station was downgraded to burn coal ‘as required’. After burning no coal from April to August 2017, Aberthaw began taking imported coal from Avonmouth which continued until February 2018.

With a population of 2.5 million, Osaka is Japan's third largest and second most important city. It has been the economic powerhouse of the Kansai region for many centuries.

Duck Landing. Not far from Knots Landing. I took a sequence of 24 shots, all within just over 3 seconds. These are four that I liked, shot within less than 2 seconds. Within 2 seconds, you can really have completely different looks, both in the duck's positioning, and the looks of the background/water colors and reflections.

Ein herrlicher Sonntagmorgen. Die Familie schlief noch. Unsere Katze wollte vor die Tür und dann sah ich diesen tollen Himmel.

A gorgeous Sunday morning. The family was still asleep. Our cat wanted to outside the door and then I saw this great sky.

The water of Lake Annecy comes from a glacier. The lake is a real wonder of purity. The lake has an area of 27.4 km² and is 80 meters deep. Many water sports and boat trips are organized on the crystal clear and idyllic water.

The lake was formed about 18,000 years ago from the meltwater of the great glaciers in the Alps of the last Ice Age.

The lake is now fed by a number of streams that originate in the surrounding mountains, such as the Ire, the Eau morte, the Laudon, the Bornette and the Biolon, and by a powerful underground source, the Boubioz.

The lake is surrounded by the Massif des Bornes and Massif des Bauges mountain ranges. The lake drains into the River Thiou and the Vassé Canal, which come together again and feed the River Fier. The Fier in turn ends up in the Rhône.
