Sedona, Arizona, August 1997. We came back to almost exactly this spot five years later and it was just as beautiful (but the insanely rugged track down the valley had been closed). Kathryn picked the fruit of a prickly pear cactus here and made a valiant attempt at eating it in the car. It took days for all the thorns to come out, but she insisted it had been worth it.
