Charlie's extra toes don't seem bother him in the slightest although I've always been worried that one of his outer claws getting caught somewhere and being damaged as Charlie cannot retract it.

 

If he does get a outer claw caught particularly on his scratch post he'll just pull his whole body, which means dragging the whole post across the floor until it comes loose. (I've often come home to find his scratch post on the other side of the room.)

 

The inner claw does not make contact with anything so this has to be cut manually and periodically otherwise it'll grow around in a loop and back in into the paw like an ingrowing toenail.

 

I can tell you Charlie Boy does not enjoy having his inner claws clipped and it can take me several attempts over several days to complete the task.
