Class N7 (GER Class L77) 0-6-2T 69671

British Railways ex LNER GER locomotive 69671 is seen here coupled the wrong way heading towards Hatfield Peverel just before the Bunny Walk viaduct in Chelmsford UK in 1960.

134 of these were built between 1914 and 1924 originally as GER L77's locomotives then becoming LNER N7's in 1923 then finally as British Railways Standard N7 in 1948. They were extensively modified over their lives into various sub classes.

The full number of this one is unknown and just 1 example survived into preservation following their withdrawals from 1957-1962, the rest were scrapped.. They were replaced by electrification and EMU's on the Liverpool Street surburban services.

This photograph was taken by Dave, a colleague of mine and is posted with very kind permission.
