Back at 'Ian Bryce Print' in Rotorua, New Zealand mid 2001 I worked with the most racist bloke I ever came across , he used to openly call all the local Maori's 'Niggers' frequently in work, even in front of a gargantuan mullet haired Maori called Max (he reminded me of Chief from 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest' but only bigger. One day Max picked up Tom Whelan (like one would pick up a baby in his arms) and dropped him onto his knee in a wrestling style move, Tom's back arched and he writhed around on the floor in the office like a dying fly crying like a boy. It was very funny, especially as Tom was about 50 and Max about 40. Curiouser still Tom Whelan was married to a 29 year old illiterate Maori lady. Racism was Tom's way of shedding his hatred in life, he had a lot of bad luck in life and did have a warm and funny side to him aswell which did come out as frequently as his darker side.
