Buckingham Palace Clock
On our recent visit to Buckingham Palace I noticed this, it is a clock, yes a clock. Built by Jean Antoine Lépine in 1790. With her bow and quiver this figure resembles an African Diana, goddess of the Hunt, a theme continued in the central plaque of the base where putti are shown carrying dead game on a stretcher. A pull of the left earring will prompt the clock to play one of its eight tunes, whilst a pull of the right will reveal the hours in the figure’s left eye and the minutes in her right. How about that!!
