Working Lives, Lost Skills series - The Papermaker - Hung out to dry

Sheets of new paper are hung out to dry from wooden racks strung across the ceiling of the top floor of Two Rivers papermill in Exmoor, Somerset. Marbles roll into place in wooden brackets to gently hold the sheets as they dry. Here the sheets stretching across the room made an interesting abstract view.

This image is part of my "Working Lives, Lost Skills" project through which I am recording the work of some of the last known exponents of traditional rural crafts and industries. I hope to eventually use some of the images to develop an exhibition and psosible a book.
