Alpenglow

Early morning light hits Sass de Putia in the Italian Dolomites while the small villages in the midground and the church in the foreground remain in the pre-dawn crepuscular ambience.

While some of the photos I take require long hikes, this one was literally taken from the road, and you can get roughly the same framing on Google StreetView! On the flipside, the drive up to this point was dramatic, with several extremely steep switchbacks made more tricky by the pre-dawn darkness. It paid off though -- the clouds cleared around the distant mountain when the light was still soft and red and we got the scene we had hoped for.
