SVR 5643 @ Bridgnorth
As said, the Severn Valley Railway was one of the first organisations that bought an actual railway line to run the in those days by BR banned steam locomotives on. It all started at Brigdnorth and now trains run all the way towards the mainline at Kidderminster. Unfortunately the trackbed northwards is severed and it will never be possible to reinstate the line towards tourism-hotspot Ironbridge, but than again the line as it is now is popular enough. At Bridgwater, 5600 'Taffy' tank enige 5643 rests in front of the brakedown crane of the railway. This class, abeit quite large with 200 locos (5600 and 6600), ran almost exclusively in South Wales alone, which is enough said about the importance of this coalmine regio in history. 9 are preserved of which, not a surprise, eight came from Barry's scrapyard.
