Week 1: Soda bread
Recipe from Cook's Illustrated archive, unfortunately only available if you have a subscription. An inauspicious start to the year, honestly. I've made brown soda bread before and wanted to try a different recipe, and one that wasn't dark. This loaf looked pretty, but tasted like a biscuit. As my husband put it, "You've made the world's biggest biscuit." Tasted okay, just not like soda bread.
