Harris Teeter interior
Harris Teeter #6 (56,092 square feet)
12404 Warwick Boulevard, Newport News, VA
Opened October 15th, 1997
Harris Teeter built their first Peninsula store in close proximity to CNU, and for a decade it was their only location over here; hell, even now they still barely have a presence like Food Lion and Kroger! The store got a renovation sometime in the late 2000s, featuring that spectacular décor package previously documented by myself in the now closed Suffolk location. I personally never set foot inside this store until around 2012 so I couldn't tell ya how it originally looked, but even back in the late 1990s Harris Teeter went for that larger scale supermarket look with a warehouse ceiling, wide aisles, and even a second floor for employee areas. The store is a lot of fun to shop in and looks marvelous and appealing. I'm just upset that the stupid virus means they can't have those scrumptious sugar cookies out for the taking!
