This picture is intended mostly for construction fans. The historic front of the structure is being kept fully intact, along with the original exterior walls. Bellingham is located at the opening to Puget Sound, & is in one of the most dangerous earthquake zones on earth. The big one due here will very possibly reach 9+ on the Richter scale, & be followed by an immense tsunami. Thus, codes are demanding, & retrofitting old buildings is a serious business. This one will soon have shops at ground level, with pricey condominiums above. Condos in the Fairhaven historic district sell out as much as 2 years before they're ready to be occupied.
