Playing god over inanimate objects
Packing is hard. It's about passing judgment. What is worthy of being kept and what should be cast off? I am guilty of owning too many things, some, I must shamefully admit, i forgot i ever had. It feels good to give things away to people who will appreciate them more. On the other hand, I've been desperately looking for a few things i really miss-- an old journal from when i was 21 and living on a kibbutz in israel, my grandmother's pearl necklace that i know i put in a "safe" place but it's so safe i can't remember just where it is.
As for this photo. I got tired of looking at the "old" 18 year old me in my underwear. But since I've been too busy packing to get out and photograph anything new i took this one of me with my MacBook camera. I'm wrapped in one of the few items i haven't yet packed--my orange throw that keeps me warm on cold winter nights.
