Farewell to the Lumix FZ200

Followers of this site may have noticed (we certainly have!) a significant deterioration of sharpness and general quality of this last batch of pictures. The weather Oop North wasn't brilliant but compared well with the South West. However the camera performed as if the lens was wide open all the time with very small plane of focus and unreliable metering. We have had a love/hate relationship with the Lumix from day one, loving the sharpness and hating the control layout and function keys. After some heavy repairs to remove lumps of dirt from the sensor after being bashed, it was never quite the same and became increasingly unpredictable during this last expedition. We are pleased to say that Panasonic have listened to their public and the Lumix FZ1000 appears to have all the previous faults ironed out while retaining the crisp lens - time will tell. Meanwhile the FZ200 has been relegated to light domestic use and is proving a big hit with the Grandchildren. Cheers from The Rabbi & Mrs Thinrod.
