Wedding Gift Set

One of my brothers is getting married later this summer. His bride, Jen, picked wedding invitations that have a peacock on them and she plans to wear a peacock feather in her hair on her wedding day. Her colors are going to be a pale turquoise, white, and black. I decided to make her a set of 20 thank you cards as one of our wedding gifts to them - and, of course, I had to use a peacock and her colors!

 

To make the cards, I stamped the sentiment and peacock from Hero Arts CL447 Beautiful Peacocks onto 140# cold pressed watercolor paper. I wanted to use the watercolor paper, to give the cards a more substantial, elegant feel. I stamped them using Tsukineko VersaFine onyx black pigment ink for a crisp impression.

 

Next, I colored in the peacocks using Prismacolor colored pencils in 6 shades: PC1027-Peacock Blue (how appropriate!), PC905-Aquamarine, PC992-Light Aqua, PC912-Apple Green, PC910-True Green, and PC913-Spring Green. Then I applied Hero Arts CH235-5mm and CH236-4mm Diamond Gems to add sparkle and highlight the feathers.

 

The background is made from Bazzill Basics Frosted Teal textured cardstock. I stamped Hero Arts CG119 Flourish Background using Broken China Distress Ink. I also stamped the envelopes with one of the feathers to match from the Beautiful Peacocks set using Broken China Distress Ink.

 

I die cut and dry embossed the peacock panels using Spellbinders Nestabilities Curved Rectangles and my ProvoCraft Cuttlebug. The watercolor paper really took the dry embossing well. I adhered the peacock panels to the card base using foam squares for dimension.

 

It took longer than I thought to do the whole set of 20 ... and I didn't think I'd finish on time because I had jury duty (now over!) and my hubby had surgery. I just love how the set turned out!
