There is an influence here from the very moving Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Washington DC; but architect Eisenman said, "I fought to keep names off the stones, because having names on them would turn it into a graveyard." A good decision. Yet the place feels like a graveyard rendered in the NEGATIVE.
