Snowball fight with my husband's son, James, then around 8 y.o.. He left
home at 18 and we haven't seen him since (2 years ago). Pic taken on my
brother's ranch in Hope Valley, approx. 8 miles east of the Kirkwood Ski
Resort in California / Lake Tahoe area.
Update: About a year after I wrote this description, we heard word that James was living at the local Marines recruiting office. I went down there and left them my card and told James to call, to come home and have a real, home cooked meal. So, about an hour later, there was a call from James. He had just come in from Adult School. And yes, he was hungry and ready to come home. He arrived about an hour after that. It was such a blessing to have him back home. James tried to hang with the Marines, but after awhile, realized that was not what he wanted to do. We had his company most of the summer; he was a real big help to me, to have a around. Then it came to be that he would head out to the mid-west and live with his Grandmother and cousins in Indiana. Since leaving our home, he has applied himself everywhere he has landed on his feet. He has worked as an electrician, he has worked at a canning company, and he met a very special young lady, Amber. He now works as a mechanic for WalMart in Florida. I hope they can make their way back to Indiana, where Amber is from and where things were going pretty good for them. But right now, they are trying out life in Florida, living with his mother and brother. James is 21. Smart as a whip, so he knows what he has to do, what he can do. I am sure he will do the right thing.
