I'm just back from a week in California. A working trip, so not much time for photography, but my friend and fellow photographer, Don Hoffman, persuaded me to get up at the crack of dawn and go shoot (photographically of course) a few surfers before breakfast last Thursday. As bait he threw in a loan of his 200-400ml VR Nikkor lens, which is stunning. As I was on Eastern time, I took the bait, and rose uncharacteristically early. Well worth it, and you can see one result above. The lens was stunning. Huntington Beach is a great place to see surfers , and is currently gearing up to host the US OPEN Surfing Championships this July 20-28. Looked like there were a lot of excellent surfers up bright and early, so maybe a few were practicing for the event.
