Newcastle Number 1 reservoir, or 'The Res' is a brick lined water storage tank from the late 1800s, located in Newcastle East. Hunter Water, the site's custodian opened The Res to public tours in 2015, via ballot. I was fortunate enough to win a place on one of the first tours, in April 2015.
