06686 Silky Phacelia - 1977
Third shot in the current series of hiking locations I loved during my backpacking days. Obviously this isn't a "location shot", but it does represent the very first collection I started, the first time I began to shoot in categories.
I remember setting this shot up, lying on the rocks and getting the right background for my low growing subject, although the precise location is lost to memory. Jasper, I think. I don't think I've made a better image of this species in all the years since.
Photographed (maybe) in Jasper National Park, Alberta (Canada); scanned from the original Kodacrome 64 slide. I used a Pentax Spotmatic with a Takumar 100mm macro lens. Don't use this image on websites, blogs, or other media without explicit permission ©1977 James R. Page - all rights reserved.
