Vík í Mýrdal
Another one from a great display of light at Vík, south Iceland. The pinnacles seen are called Reynisdrangar. They have been eroded away from the mountain on the right by the powerful north Atlantic waves. The soft rock from which this old volcano is made from erodes quite quickly. It is basically a volcanic debris pressed solid by kilometer or two thick ice during a recent ice age.
The black sand is also made from volcanic debris eroded away by current glaciers in south Iceland and carried to the sea by rivers.
