Monk Parakeets (Myiopsitta monachus)

Highly intelligent and social birds, a species of true parrot, AKA Quaker Parrot, Monk Parakeets were introduced into the North America. Feral populations are common in Florida and Mexico, less so in Texas. Photographed on the verge of the Texas City Dike on a cold (43F/6C) morning, not the weather usually associated with parrots!
