Business 40 Bridge and Design Working Group meetings 2013/2014
The purpose of conducting the Bridge and Design Working Group is to:
· Obtain citizens’ input on issues concerning the design of bridges and roadway.
Work with participants to determine how the bridges will look, from an aesthetic and visual standpoint.
Develop bridge designs based on the outcomes of the meetings.
Work closely with NCDOT to ensure that they meet engineering standards and are safe and functional.
Coordinate with other local efforts and organizations within the community.
Create an engaging environment at the meetings so that they maximize participation and are representative of the “voice of Winston”.
The purpose of developing and conducting both Working Groups continues to be:
· To obtain citizens’ input on issues concerning their neighborhoods and communities in a very organized and manageable manner, and one that encourages regular participation in the project. The working groups will cover such topics as community impacts, interchanges, alternate routes, bike/pedestrian/open space, economic development, trucking/motor carriers from the Business 40 project. The group will discuss issues and approaches to various project concerns and will be open to anyone.
· To provide NCDOT specific “community-based” ideas and suggestions that may be incorporated into the development process of the project and to assist NCDOT in its context sensitive solutions for Business 40.
· To promote citizen ownership and investment in the project and the process through construction.
