Te Maari crater ...
This crater erupted in 2012 and sent debris as far as the track on the Tongariro Alpine Crossing . The evidence can be seen today and the Ketetahi Hut along the track a bit still shows the impact damage and is being left for all to see with some weather-proofing .
On the left back-ground you can see Lake Rotoaira with Lake Taupo over the saddle in the distance.
