Columbia County Crab
Today was a happy day for me! After first seeing a crab spider in June of 2007--a yellow goldenrod crab spider on milkweed--I've been looking for goldenrod crab spiders on goldenrod! Until today, I had only seen them on two occasions--both in Maine--once in 2008 & on two plants during our recent trip. This one was sitting right at the end of my driveway in Columbia County, New York, USA on August 27, 2010. I've put four photos of her up, to help you train your eyes to see crab spiders. I hope you'll check out all four. She was doing a great job of camouflage! This was my best view.
