Friday Matinee No. 14
Entitled: If looks Could Chill (Whattaya Mean "If"?).
A double-feature taken at the Singapore Zoo. This is another "Flying Fox", one of a handful of fruit-eating megabat species. It was less than a foot beyond the other bat, seen below. This guy's wingspan is also about two feet. The little limb they are on was supporting about four bats total, maybe five. I think when the first one landed, the tropical tree limb was still well above our platform. But these guys must weigh three pounds each, at least, and at four bats the tree was drooping over to just about chest level. So I am still not (!) using any kind of zoom. This guy didn't seem to want me to get any closer though, and I wasn't about to push my luck.
