Mr Stoker was inspired to write Dracula while staying in this very house (6 Royal Crescent, on the West Cliff, Whitby).
Bram Stoker, the author of "Dracula" first holidayed here in 1890. Stoker sets the earlier stages of his story in Whitby. The neighbouring address, amended to No 7 The Crescent, features in the novel as the address for Count Dracula's correspondent 'Samuel F Billington'.
