Jackson Are Shop with a Hero
Multiple Southern Region facilities took part in the Blackman Township Public Safety Shop with a Hero event, which provided three days of fun, laughter, and joy for 100 students in the area. Blackman Charter Township Public Safety Officer Brandon Casler organized the event and was assisted by RGC Prison Counselor/COMS Project Lead Jennifer Fulmerhouser. Staff taking part were from SMT, RGC, JCS, JCF, TCF, WCC, and WHV, along with area Probation Officers, amounting to nearly 40 staff members assisting. Of the event, PC Fulmerhouser noted, “Thank you to every one of you who took the time out of your day or days to make a positive impression on these children. This was my 10th year volunteering with Shop with a Hero. My first year there was like 2 of us from MDOC. Since Brandon took over and asked me to help bridge the gap and get more uniform staff, we have done just that. It’s great to see how much this event has grown in 10 short years from 1 day with 2 staff involved to 3 days with close to 40 staff giving their time, it’s an amazing feeling.”
