Church at Vík í Mýrdal

The tiny village of Vik is directly below the volcano Katla which lies under the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. Katla last erupted in 1918 and is now overdue. Were Katla to erupt again it could melt enough ice to flood the town. Villagers practice evacuating to the church which is on higher ground,
