City Council Chambers
On Wednesday, the 23rd, Reach Fellowship International hosted the First Inaugural Gender-Responsive Conference within the Contra Costa region.
More than 80 people attended and over 10 political delegates were represented: such as, Supervisor John Gioia (who also presented on the topic of "Where do we go from Here") & his staff ; the staff of Congressman Mark Desaunlier's office—Shanelle Scales; the staff of Senator Hancock’s office—Terri Waller; the staff of Assemblyman Tony Thurman—Abel Pineda; Richmond City Manager, Bill Lindsay; Richmond Mayor Tom; Richmond Councilwoman Gayle Mclaughlin; the staff of Chief Philip Kader--the Contra Costa Probation Department; the staff of Sheriff David Livingston--the Contra Costa Sheriff Department; and Berkeley City Councilman Kriss Worthington & his staff.
It was amazing and we have received such positive reviews.
We could not have done it without you—thank you.
In addition, we would like to extend a very special thanks to: Ms Lori Reese-Brown, the Richmond city manager staff who donated the space for this event; Ms. Annie King-Meredith, who gathered and organized our volunteers from Davis Chapel Church in North Richmond; thanks to Ms Corrine Sing, the Director of the North Richmond Senior Center, who also volunteered at the registration table for our incoming guests; thanks to Ms. Marena Brown, who volunteered as our power-point operator; thanks to our keynote speaker, Dr Barbara Bloom; thanks to our special guest speaker, Kim Carter; thanks to our panelist: Dr Martha Wilson, Ms. Aminta Mickles, Ms. Jeannie Cummings, Ms. Janet Halfin, Ms. Nancy Lemon, Ms. Karen Shulz, Ms. Robin Lipetzky and Dr Edwina Perez-Santiago.
Thanks all the media and press who help capture the story of this event; thanks all of our attendees and well wishers who came to learn more about the plight of reentry women in this region and finally thanks to the women who have been recently released or currently incarcerated—it is because of you that we have created this work.
