Kori Bustard (Ardeotis kori)

Kori Bustard is a ground dwelling omnivore bird. Males of this species are probably the heaviest living animal capable of flight. The species was described by English naturalist William John Burchell in 1822. The species epithet "kori" was derived from the Bantu language Tswana. It belongs to the Order Otidiformes. The species follows a polygynous mating system where male mates with multiple females during the breeding season. Parental care is solely done by the females.
