My apologies for the more-boring-than-usual photography lately but I've been taking my new walk-around camera out for walks.
The RX100M3 is everything they say it is. I've been shooting RAW with bracketed exposure, processed in DXO Optics Pro and edited in ACDSee Pro 8, with some shots retouched in Topaz Labs' software.
My experience so far compared with an Alpha 77 and Canon G12:
The image quality is fantastic. Colors are deep and true. Noise is low even at higher ISOs. The optical viewfinder is a big 'YAY!, especially after being saddled with the entirely pointless hole-thorugh-the-camera on the G12. I didn't think I'd use the OVF much but I'm really starting to use it by default.
Battery life hasn't been a problem yet. I think I could fill a 16GB card on one battery with no flash use.
It's a small camera with small buttons but not too small for my fat, old clumsy fingers. And it plays well with my Eye-Fi card.
On the downside - the bundled software is crap. I uninstalled it pretty quickly. There is no way to access the camera settings via the software, at least that I found.
My WiFi router password is a 28 character 'random' jumble of upper/lower case letters, numbers and special characters, so connecting to my WiFi via the camera's input was quite the adventure.
Nor does there seem to be any way of backing up the camera's settings, a serious oversight for such a customizable camera.
Overall it's a great little piece of gear.
