Time for breakfast
Noel Reed was photographing trains before I was born and was an early pioneer in Australia of the use of Kodachrome with some shots dating back to the early 1950s. Noel has very kindly acceded to my request to upload some of his photographic collection (all taken by him) to Flickr.
Noel was a passenger this day - 11 January 1954 - on the broad gauge leg of the overnight 'Broken Hill Express'. The train is hauled by South Australian Railway built 4-8-4 no.522 and has paused at Riverton in the Mid North of South Australia for passengers to avail themselves of breakfast in the railway refreshment room.
