pebble migration

the pebbles make the slow and dangerous migration up the beach, assisted only by the power of the tide. most make it but a few unfortunates are picked off by giant predatory winter coats and devoured by pockets! others are unmercifully thrown back out into the sea for the amusement of other species, only to begin their journey all over again
