eurasian sparrowhawk ~ accipiter nisus (male)

RSPB Green status

In the last of the light this sparrowhawk flew out of the low sunlight and into a bush taking out a great tit. Ironically I was watching a kestrel hovering nearby and hoping it would come a bit closer. I wasn't prepared for this nor were the birds. Seconds later the sparrowhawk carried his kill away. A shame as he could have had a decent meal of "tree rat" with a choice of four of them only minutes earlier.:-)

While I really appreciate your comments and awards, invites etc. please NO holiday/seasonal, flashy/glittery images.
