cheap alum box for power transformer
the transformer is a dual 30v 80VA toroid.
this is a large and heavy transformer but sadly, the alum case bends and flexes if you even look at it wrong. that's what you get for $10 cases these days, I guess.
cased up, it will sit on the floor and provide power to a 'beta22' amp that will be inside a stereo rack.
remoting the trafo like this cuts down on the radiant 'hum' pickup. the beta22 is extremely sensitive and can't be too close to the trafo, so its always recommended to 'remote' the transformer, somehow.
