Taken at 7:30 a.m. in the street behind our hotel. Use "All Sizes" to see the detail in the center - a woman in a city worker vest, and another woman next to her are donating food to the monk (in orange robes). The woman on the right is giving a 'wai' - a greeting/respect gesture, with hands together. The monk is out from the temple seeking donations (food wrapped in bags, usually). He cannot buy or take the food, but only hold out his bowl. Giving food and other gifts to monks is a major way to 'make merit' - a very good deed.
