The Erawan Shrine is a spirit house, so why so large? It's the spirit house for the Grand Hyatt, a huge, luxurious hotel. The shrine has taken on a life of its own (as it is believed especially favorable to pray at), and has many people making offerings (flowers, wreaths of jasmine, orchids, and incense. The women at far left and far right are praying; the women in the center are laying an offering. The figure inside is Brahma (Prha Prom), a four-faced god from Buddhism's Hindu origins.
