G-DJAR 2 Airbus A320-231 Airtours International Airways MAN 22OCT00

Replacing an earlier scanned photo with a better version 06-Mar-18, plus Topaz DeNoise AI 22-Oct-24.

Taken into the early morning sun on a misty October morning.

With unusual additional 'MyTravelCo' titles. Airtours didn't become MyTravel until May-02.

An early A320 (c/n 164), this aircraft was first flown with the Airbus test registration F-WWIE before being delivered to Conair of Scandinavia as OY-CNE in Sep-91. It was wet-leased to Saarland Airlines in Apr-93 (a short-lived airline which was formed in Apr-92 and ceased operations in Dec-93), returning to Conair in Dec-93.

In Jan-94 Conair of Scandinavia merged with Scanair to form Premiair Denmark. In 1996 Premiair's major shareholder SLG (Scandinavian Leisure Group) was bought out by Airtours International (UK) and Premiair became part of the Airtours Group. The aircraft was sold to a lessor in Sep-96 and leased back to Premiair.

It was returned to the lessor in Mar-97 and the lease was transferred to Airtours International Airways as G-DJAR. Airtours was renamed MyTravel Airways in May-02. The aircraft continued in service with MyTravel until it was returned to the lessor in Jun-04.

It was leased to SriLankan Airlines as 4R-ABF the following month. It returned to the lessor as N164CG in May-09 and was stored at Victorville, CA, USA. In Mar-10 the aircraft was leased to Mexicana, retaining it's US registration.

Mexicana ceased operations in Aug-10 and the aircraft was repossessed and again stored at Victorville. It was sold to AeroTurbine Inc in Dec-11 and was broken up at Victorville in 2012. The registration was cancelled in Mar-12.
