Empath
I've always been fascinated by the idea of empaths in science fiction and fantasy stories- especially the kind of culture that would evolve in a world of empaths; the psychological mechanisms involved in knowing the thoughts and feelings of others; the kinds of rules, norms, and rituals that might develop. Often in those kinds of stories the empaths are bald - Deanna Troi being a notable exception, although she did start off with a bun in the early episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation!
I wonder why bald. Might hair interfere with telepathy? Well, that's probably not it. It's more like the lack of hair, and the clear visibility of the head, symbolically magnifies the idea of a direct connection between minds with little interference. It's also a lot easier to polish your head.
