the veggie grill
* island getaway *
i ordered "island getaway" sandwich for lunch. this coconut milk-battered tempeh (organic soybeans, grains and rice culture blend) is lightly fried and glazed with sweet grilled pineapple and topped with shredded coconut. what can i say.... it's not bad but it's a bit dry. i can see this dish can be morphed into a deep fried nuggets (just like coconut shrimp) and served with pineapple salsa and an orange vinegarette salad on the side.
it's always challenging to serve meat substitute in dishes. flavorful sauces are commonly used to dress up "the meat". i don't want to compare the veggie grill with real food daily in LA because rfd serves full menu and probably they are different restaurant types.
overall, it's a nice spot for lunch, especially on a sunny day!
btw, wish they serve teality ice tea... hahaha. the reveolution tea is flavorless.
