Joey (aka Pepe)
Rad(ioactive) Rose
(Submission for the Lighting 102 Assignment: Reflect)
Hmmm... half satisfied with this shot. "Going green" was the base concept, but it turned out more like "Go Green... or else!" I might try it again on a dark background (if I can figure out how to get a black background in there without losing too much light) I'm also open to suggestions to improve the shot!
Strobist info: Bare LP160, at 1/8th power, about 1.5 meters in front of subject (the setup shots explain things much better. Edit: and better still if I link to them!: Setup 1, Setup 2), positioned slightly lower than the glass desk (on which the rose was placed), with some foamcore to spill light back onto the rose, which is surrounded by some aluminum foil and white paper. There's also a gobo in front, and two gels inside a ziplock bag. Camera settings: f/8, 1/200th, ISO 200, lens zoomed out full to 200 mm.
P.S. I think the concept eluded me on this one, just looking at the photo doesn't tell me much...
P.S.2: After David's comments on his submission, maybe I do need to add a caption to it, something like "Toxic waste: radiation is creeping on us" or something like that.
