Boot Camp Day 2. Oneonta Gorge had been high on my list to see and shoot. Initially I wasn’t quite sure what to expect: questions of whether the log jam would be too difficult to traverse and whether or not the moss was at peak greens ran through my mind in the days leading up to the trip.
Suited up in bomber gear, Alan, Jave, and I embarked on our journey and crossed the log jam with minor difficulty. Across the obstacle we were immersed in a jungle-like scene with glowing greens and wet walls. The first thought that came to my mind was its resemblance to a Jurassic Park theme. We were quite fortunate the water level was quite low thus exposing some mini cascades in portions of the river. I was particularly drawn to this scene with the extreme greens and the rushing water in the foreground. To my dismay, the water level was too deep to reach the base on the falls at the end of the gorge. Nonetheless, I was mesmerized by the green beauty of this slot canyon.
