...start making Spanish part of the curricula of the American Education System. Does it make sense that Spanish is not taught from K through the proficiency level. If our government wants to do something positive other than spending billions of dollars, begin making Spanish a required course. I am not joking about this; I am serious. While those who are not fluent in English can be required to take English from K through proficiency, students unable to speak Spanish fluently should be taking classes from K through proficiency. This would settle many issues; this would be one of the most positive moves made in education in years. Has anyone even considered such a proposal? Probably not, but a small minnow is getting a lot of attention
